Widewater & Glue?

"Thanks to all the hard work from Boyd Shugert and the McClure United Methodist Church for making this happen."

Day 1-Cheyene Horner, Libertti Horner, Evan Horner and Huner Rex
Day one at Wide Water our group arrived at 9:45am. After a quick intorduction we were all assigned our jobs for the day. The "chair washer" group requested that Cheyene stayed with them inside to shampoo the dining room chairs. The rest of the team, Hunter, Libertti, Evan and BJ went with Pastor Laura from Florida, her son Holden, Jake (a youth from P.H.), and Eva (a youth from Swanton), to the "Lagoon." We headed out to the Lagoon with hedge trimmers, and one swinging weed whacker. Our mission: to cut down all the weeds, vines and brush from the fence perimeter. This mission didn't seem too bad, until we reached the Lagoon! We took a break at 12:30 for lunch, and then headed back out to the Lagoon until 3:00pm when Napoleon's youth had to leave due to sports commitments.

Day 2=
Lauren Eberley, Ethan "Lil Bob" Eberley, Evan Horner, Libertti Horner
Day 2 we had 2 new faces, instead of Cheyen and Hunter, Lauren and Ethan joined us. We arrived at approximately 9:40 am on day two, and work assignments had already been assigned, yep, back to the "Lagoon." Lauren is allergic to grass, so she stayed at the camp with Eric Witte and his team. Lauren spent the morning measuring wood, and screwing in nails to build a bench. The rest of us trekked off to the Lagoon, Ehtan was filled with excitement, after all, what young boy doesn't think a"Lagoon" sounds like a cool place to work? We reached the Lagoon, Pastor Laura and Holden were already there. We grabbed our tools and went to work until luch break at 12:30, and then headed back out until 2:50, when finally, the fence line was clear! After lunch, Lauren joined our group, along with Sarah, Jake and Jeremy. Enclosed are some pics of the group, and of the area so you get a rough idea of how big of an area the youth had.

As you can see by the pics, a little hard work didn't hurt any of us. From morning to late afternoon, the youth kept smiles on their faces. Of course, being in direct sun and doing physical labor had an effect every now and then, but and grumbling was quickly forgotten and laughter filled the air.
A total of 6 youth from the GLUE Crew volunteered their time and effort between Monday and Tuesday, and I couldn't have been prouder!
