Freedom School this Summer

The Maumee Watershed District and Monroe Street UMC partnered this past Summer to provide an amazing opportunity for 50 children.

Thank you, Maumee Watershed District churches, laity and pastors for making this dream a happening!  Freedom School began on Monday with smooth sailing and lots of excitement. Check out some photos on our Facebook page, here!

This week we will join this movement for freedom and equality. Our students are learning about childhood hunger and about what needs to be done to ensure that all children have enough to eat.  On Wednesday, July 19, we will join other Freedom Schools in the National Day for Social Action. We will parade around the church and then hold a rally, asking our civic leaders to take action to end childhood hunger. Please join us for our rally. We will gather outside Monroe St. UMC at 9:45 a.m.

We also invite you to attend our Freedom School Finale on July 27 at 7 p.m. Our scholars will graduate from Freedom School and receive backpacks and school supplies, thanks to the generosity of Epworth UMC, Sylvania First UMC, and many other United Methodist brothers and sisters in the district. We will also honor our staff and our volunteers. Please come help celebrate this mission partnership!
