Dear Family of the West Ohio Conference:
It has been a very sad season to see how the strength of Hurricane “Alex” destroyed several small towns in the area of Monterrey, Mexico.
In the 80’s, Hurricane “Gilbert” became the hurricane with the strongest winds in the history of Monterrey. Now, Hurricane “Alex” became the one in the history that produced the largest amount of rain in the North of Mexico. In other words, the city has never experienced this before at this degree. You can see the pictures attached. This hurricane damaged the poorest of the poor as well as every other economic class.
The Methodist Church of Mexico wants to become a member of God’s body in answering to the cry of the victims. Pastor Jesus Elizondo, as the Chairperson of the Social response committee, sent the letter attached in this document.
Please, prayerfully I encourage you to respond to his request. As you know, to be able to recover completely, it is going to take a while, therefore, the need for food baskets it is not going to end soon.
If your congregation wants to provide some economic support, you can send your donations to the Maumee Watershed District office: Hurricane Alex victims.
May the Lord bless you in abundance as you become a blessing for others.

Support for the hurricane victims
Dear Family in Christ:
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17: 20, 21
Dear Brother and Sister in Christ: we want to encourage you participate with us in this season of need. We all together can make a difference. As all of us know, the states of Nuevo Leon (where Monterrey is located) Coahuila and Tamaulipas were the most damaged by the flooding from hurricane Alex.
Our desire is to support groups of 100 families with a basic food basket that costs: $10.00 (Ten dollars) per basket.
In addition to that, we will be visiting several areas doing Medical fairs while sharing God’s love among them.
Thank you in advance for you kindness and support in God’s kingdom by doing acts of mercy.
God bless you and prosper you
Monterrey Nuevo León, July 17th, 2010
Sincerely,
Pbro. Jesus Elizondo Palomo
President of Social Action
