Maumee Watershed District at the Lucas County Fair
Sunday, July 19, 2015 - 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Maumee Watershed District at the Lucas County Fair - July 19, 2015

July 19th the Maumee Watershed will be serving at the Lucas County Fair.  As we know, the fair will have carnival food, rides, livestock, and carnival games, but for this one day we will be providing music, worship, and family activities.

We will be serving at the fair from 12:00-4:00, with worship beginning at 4:00.  We have a large tented area with a large stage, and next to it a smaller stage.  Both stages can be used for praise bands, choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists.  We have recruited a few acts, but we still have space for a few more.  Each act will be given 30 minutes to perform.  The acts will rotate between the two stages beginning at 12:00.

There will be a scavenger hunt for those families that would like to participate in the family activities provided by our local churches.  Families will move from one building or tent in the fair grounds to find your churches family activity.  An activity might be a craft or a game. There are lots of ideas on the internet, you may have a children’s program with left over supplies, or even old Vacation Bible School activities that could be utilized. We expect 400 families, or more.  There will be multiple sites where these activities will be taking place, so a congregation can host more than one area.  Your church’s volunteers for these activities can be rotated throughout the day.  Each activity can include information about the church, programs, worship, and missions.  Each site can include a sign, free handouts, as well as the activity.  We will have a sheet that each family will carry with them as they do the scavenger hunt.  When a family comes to your site, you’ll be asked to stamp their sheets.  (Stamps will be provided).  The scavenger hunt ends at the large tent where the families will leave their forms to be entered into a drawing for a special prize, as well as invited to stay for worship.

Church families can sign up to participate in the music, and family activities.  Please be aware, you may hand out free items beyond fliers to families, but food items must be approved by the Lucas County Fair Board.  Carnival food will not be allowed (pop corn, cotton candy, etc.).  Water bottles, penny candy, popsicles are acceptable.  If you want to hand out balloons, coffee cups, or other items with your churches information printed on it that is fine.  Please contact the District Office before the event with any food items so we can get it approved by a fair committee member.

The Lucas County Fair is free on Sunday so your church members can come and enjoy the fair, and then join us for worship at 4:00.

We are extending the deadline to July 3 for churches to sign up. We understand many church families worship till 11:00.  We will try and accommodate those churches that need a later time for music.  Family activities need to be set up by 12:00 for the scavenger hunt to be successful.   If your church family is interested in participating, please contact the district office.  We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful day at the fair!
