Your church is invited to join Hayes memorial UMC and the other churches of the L.I.F.T. (Living in Faith Together) co-operative parish in Fremont for a Pack Away Hunger event on Martin Luther King Day, January 21, 2019. The purpose to help alleviate hunger in our community, our state, our country and the world. Each pack costs $.30 and contains powdered food and nutrients, which, when mixed with water, provides a filling meal. The goal of the Pack Away Hunger program in Fremont is to pack and ship between 30,000 and 50,000 meals in one day.
Your church is invited to form a team of 11 members who would be present on January 21 to help assemble a large number of meals. This team would be committed to raise $1,000 as a part of the funds needed to purchase the items for the meals. You don’t have to pay for it yourself. The team could have special fund-raising events and collections. This can be an excellent family mission project for a day - bring the kids, and pack a few hundred meals.
Prayerfully consider what your part could be in Pack Away Hunger. (pack food, keep records, lead fundraising, or maybe you can’t help pack food, but you want to make a donation.)
