Make a Difference with ERT Training

When thinking about helping those recently affected by natural disasters here in the US and across the world, do you ever think to yourself, “what could I possibly do to make a substantive impact in their lives?” or “how can someone in Ohio realistically help?” or “I’ve donated supplies, but now what?” The answer is A LOT!!

Sometimes we don’t realize the significance of Early Responders and the tremendous relief they bring both physically and spiritually.  When you are in the field, working alongside those left homeless, you change not only day-to-day lives, you and heal hearts. YOU can be a part of something bigger than yourself by signing up to attend the Early Response Training here in the Maumee Watershed District. You will be equipped with the knowledge and training you’ll need to make radical change in preventing further damage to disaster scenes.  Please consider joining us.

The eight hour Basic Class training will teach you how to assist survivors of natural disasters in their time of need. You will provide a Christian presence while taking steps to prevent further damage to a family's personal property, tarping, debris removal, cleaning out flooded homes, etc. FEMA recognizes this training to be able to enter a disaster scene. Certification from UMCOR and UMVIM will be issued to attendees. Instructor Roger Thatcher.

Cost is $40 and lunch is provided.

A Background check is required so please make sure that you download the Permission to Release Information form and follow the instructions on the second page to return it to Kris Shoaf.
