In the midst of the government shutdown (causing increased food insecurity for those on food stamps) and the current winter weather, the Marketplace for All People has some urgent needs:
- Unopened, unexpired shelf-stable food items to supplement the food we are able to get from the local food banks. Condiments, instant oatmeal, instant rice and pasta packets, soup, and single serve mac & cheese/pasta cups are popular items with our food pantry shoppers.
- Warm winter gloves to keep our members (many of whom live on the streets) safe and warm.
- Plastic grocery bags for our food pantry. We have seen a significant increase in the number of folks shopping in our food pantry each week during the government shutdown, so we are running VERY low on bags.
Donations can be dropped off on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 9am-2pm at St. Paul's UMC (1201 Madison Ave, Toledo, OH 43604). Parking is available in the small lot at the corner of Madison & 13th. THANK YOU for your support of the Marketplace. We believe that this work of feeding the hungry and clothing the cold is resurrection work, and your support makes it possible! For more info, contact Katie at marketplace.toledo [at] gmail.com.
