MWD Lay Servant Training Spring 2021 - Cancelled!

The Maumee Watershed District Lay Servant Ministry team will be hosting four Last Servant classes next month. The classes will be held at Maumee United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 17th from 8am-4:30pm. There will be a Welcome/Meet the participants time by Zoom on Friday night from 7-8pm.

The classes offered are:

  • Basic Lay Servant Class - led by Rev. Mary Kay and Debra Dickerson - Click here to register
There are a broad range of mission and ministry opportunities for laypeople in the UMC. The Basic Course lays the framework for understanding the UMC approach to leadership in mission and ministry. This course will equip participants to better lead and serve with others, not only in the church but also in the community and throughout the world.
  • Creative Worship Workshop - led by Rev. Andrea Curry - Click here to register
This course builds on the course Leading Worship and it is grounded in the principles and practices of worship planning.
  • Called to Preach - led by Rev. Scot Ocke - Click here to register
This course is designed for those who have not completed formal preaching training, for pastors seeking a basic refresher course, and for others who are called upon to preach in a pastor’s absence.
  • Spiritual Gifts - led by Becky Grohowski - Click here to register
This course helps participants understand spiritual gifts and how the church can use them to fulfill its mission and ministry. Participants will also learn what it means to be a spiritual leader and will be equipped to lead others in exploring and using their spiritual gifts.

Due to the quick turnaround of the class time, we are asking each participant to purchase their own book. When you register, you will receive an email that will include the Amazon link to purchase the book needed. The cost of the class will be $15 and will include lunch and snacks. If you need help getting the book, please contact Michelle in the District Office.

Registration deadline is Friday, April 9 at noon. Please contact Michelle at mrobinson [at], if you have any questions.
