You have probably heard about “Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation” the latest proposal to help our Denomination work through the stalemate regarding the long debated human sexuality issues. It, like any other petition, will be debated, probably amended and voted on at General Conference this coming May in Minnesota.
Scot Ocke, the MWD Superintendent, will share with you more information about “Protocol” and the other proposals, both before and after General Conference. Before General Conference we are offering listening posts in six (6)locations around our District on three (3) Sundays this March. Please RSVP on Sign-up Genius here (couples/groups can sign up at once - just enter the number attending) or mrobinson [at] wocumc.org (contact )the District Office with your preference of place and time by March 1. Please see the following schedule for a place and time near you – though you are certainly welcome at any location.

These listening posts are for both clergy and laity. So pastors, please begin announcing these to your church as soon possible. It is important for all of us to be as informed as much as possible about General Conference and the proposals and decisions that will be considered and possibly be made there.
We will then circle back to do similar listening posts after the General Conference so as many as possible know their options and responsibilities as leaders in the Conference and local church. Thank you for your attention to this important information. In the meanwhile, remember that Jesus is Lord of the Church and His mission for the church is to share Jesus’ grace and love with as many people as possible. Whatever happens, this is our mission!
