Is your congregation looking for a local mission opportunity this holiday season? Marketplace for All People is collecting items to be distributed to the community for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays!
For Thanksgiving, we are collecting Thanksgiving side dish items to make available in our food pantry on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Needs include canned green beans, corn, peas, yams, cranberry sauce, and boxed mashed potatoes and stuffing. These items are needed by Thursday, November 15th, 2018.
For Christmas, we are collecting can openers! Many of the families who shop in our food pantry do not have can openers, so their choices in the pantry are very limited. Our hope is to give a gift of a can opener to each family who shops in the food pantry on the Friday before Christmas (December 21st). To make this possible, we need to collect approximately 100 can openers, and we need your help! We are asking that folks donate can openers in the $5 range, NOT low quality dollar store can openers or more expensive electric versions. We will be collecting can openers until Thursday, December 20th.
These items for our holiday drives, along with donations of clothing (seasonally appropriate, please) and household items, can be dropped off at St. Paul's UMC (1201 Madison Ave, Toledo) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 9am and 2pm. If your congregation will be supporting our holiday drives and would be interested in visiting the Marketplace or hosting a speaker to learn more about our mission, please contact Marketplace Coordinator, Katie at marketplace.toledo [at] gmail.com. We are grateful for your support!
